Award winning VAs will share their own journeys in how winning Awards step-changed their business activities. What is the impact that you can expect from winning an award?

 

Speaker profile:
Michelle founded ValueAdd Business Solutions in January 2011 after a 20 year career in professional services. She has extensive knowledge of new start and growing businesses having worked with a broad spectrum of organisations over the years.

Her skills have enabled her to carry out assignments in a broad range of sectors and her background extends to industry, product/service and sectoral research. Michelle is a hands-on individual accustomed to working under pressure, able to work well on own initiative and demonstrate the highest level of motivation required to achieve objectives and meet tight deadlines with a right first time attitude, adopting a disciplined approach to all tasks.

She prides herself on her analytical and organisational abilities she has a pragmatic approach to all tasks and an extensive knowledge of everyday business practices. She particularly enjoys the variety of different assignments and the challenges which running a business brings together with the ability to use her experience in practical ways for the benefit of clients.

Having embraced the “cloud” Michelle uses cloud computing in almost every aspect of her business and encourages her clients to do the same integrating applications wherever possible to adopt a streamlined approach. She believes being on the cutting edge of cloud computing offers a fantastic opportunity for savvy entrepreneurs.

Michelle is responsible for the internal operations of VABS including quality management throughout the organisation. She ensures that projects run smoothly, on time and within budget, coordinates the various associates and, with her team, provides support within all projects.

A high level networker and relationship builder, with a passion for innovation, creation of new businesses and services and identifying new market opportunities. She possesses strong leadership skills and an ability to bring together the right people and skills to grow and develop companies and organisations. She is a strategic thinker, with a no-nonsense approach, yet with ability to relate and develop relationships at all levels.

Developing both her own and her client’s businesses through extensive networking and relationship building, Michelle brings a passion for innovation, creation of new businesses and services development to everything she does identifying new market opportunities for future growth.

In 2014 Michelle won “VA of the Year, Scotland” then went on to win “UK, VA of the Year “at the UK Grand Finals later that year in London. And with her business in growth phase she is increasingly involved in strategic planning, project management and business development. Bringing together the right people and skills to grow and develop VABS and other organisations through strong leadership, Michelle continues to find success along the way.

In November 2016 Michelle and her team were thrilled to scoop the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers LUCA award for Large Practice of the Year which was closely followed in March 2017 with the UK’s Outstanding VA of the Year accolade. As well as winning awards she was delighted to have supported one of her employees to achieve the 2017 LUCA Employed Bookkeeper of the Year.

Michelle has an HND in Mathematics and BA in Business Management. She is an Associate member of Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and a Fellow with Chartered Institute of Management.

In May 2015 Michelle was announced as one of the latest Women’s Enterprise Scotland (WES) Ambassadors where she promotes gender equality in enterprise across Scotland.

She has recently been accepted as a mentor for MCR Pathways, an organisation that supports young people in Glasgow, disadvantaged through no fault of their own, to fulfil their true potential.

She lives in Glasgow with her husband and 2 teenage children.
